Therefore, from the University of Azuay, it seeks to bet on a pertinent training and scientific-academic quality, which allows it to give a solvent response to various problems and territorial opportunities. Therefore, it makes available to society and the various public and private institutions the Expert course on Climate Change and Territorial Planning, which allows strengthening the technical and institutional capacities of the various relevant actors on this subject and at moments of great relevance. .

Objectives and methodology


Overall objective.

Strengthen technical and institutional capacities through the management of approaches, methodologies, and tools that allow the management of various challenges and dynamics posed by climate change on planning and land use planning.

Specific objectives.

  • Know the conceptual and systemic framework around climate change and the impact of this process on planning and land use planning.
  • Management of technical tools that allow analyzing and structuring the adequate and proactive decision-making around climate change in planning and land use planning.
  • Apply a sustainable and participatory approach to the formulation of territorial actions with an emphasis on climate change.
  • Know the architecture and mechanisms related to climate financing that allow orienting possible actions related to planning, ordering and territorial development.

Course methodology

The Course will be developed under the virtual modality, where it is contemplated to combine virtual, synchronous and autonomous work phases for each of the modular phases.

The topics to be taught have the characteristic of being methodologically sequential and linked together in order to jointly advance among the participants their deepening of theoretical concepts and practical application with case studies in each module.

The program will be taught in the modular system with intervals of thematic readings, forums, attendance to synchronous classes and autonomous activities of the participants individually or collectively.

    Reflecting on and mastering the conceptual framework on the phenomenon of climate change and its impact on territorial dynamics and the planning and land use planning process.

  • Module II: Climate Change and its impact on planning instruments and land use planning

  • Module III: Climate change for land planning
    Dates: 1 of February to 28 2021

    Integrate a systemic approach to understand and integrate various underlying factors of climate change to land planning that allows a pertinent formulation of territorial projects.

    1. Environmental governance and its integration in the identification of territorial projects
    2. Underlying territorial factors for the construction of an environmental governance proposal
    3. Identification and multilevel formulation of sustainable territorial proposals.
  • Module IV: Climate change and financial mechanisms for the formulation of proposals
    Dates: From March 3 to April 7, 2022
    Duration: 22 hours synchronous / 10 hours asynchronous and 10 hours of autonomous work

    This module will allow the student to know international and national financial mechanisms that allow analyzing possible lines of action on climate change from planning and land use planning.

    1. Climate financing towards the construction of resilient and sustainable territories
    2. International approach to climate finance
    3. National approach to climate finance
    4. Integration of climate finance into sustainable territorial proposals

Certificates


Once the activities and requirements for the development of the course have been fulfilled, the participants will receive the certification of Expert in Climate Change and Land Management ", based on the provisions of the Regulations of the Continuing Training Department, that is, that the participant obtains a minimum 70% in the academic evaluation and 80% attendance, in each module In case of failing or not taking a module, the certification will be made for the modules taken and approved.

Scholarships ranging from 40% to 60% will be awarded to the first 30 people who enroll.

Teaching and administrative staff, once you check the box "Payment role discount" when making your online registration, the automatic discount to the payment role will be made, in two installments of $ 60,00 in the months of December 2021 and January of 2022.
