Description
The changes in the development visions, the updating of the institutional regulations of the country, the accelerated processes of technological change and modernization and the different temporal conceptions of the roles that the GADs must fulfill require that the professional technical personnel and the authorities of the Development agencies seek permanent updating from different areas to better perform their role as officials as agents of change and contribute towards the achievement of the objectives and their role in serving the community.
The module contributes to the knowledge and application of a Geographic Information System to solve problems or take advantage of opportunities in the planning of Land Use, using spatial information of the territory from maps, cartography, software, hardware and procedures that allow creating the system.
Sustainable development goals
Life of terrestrial ecosystems
Objectives and methodology
Overall objective.
Use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to apply them to the management of territorial information on multiple thematic aspects that can be processed and analyzed to achieve knowledge of spatial problems and allow the formulation of development planning proposals.
Specific objectives.
- Establish the basic concepts of cartography, its spatial reference, graphic representation models and Geographic Information Systems.
- Use a GIS to perform spatial analysis.
- Use a GIS to obtain the physical characterization of a certain territory and publish the cartographic products in appropriate formats.
- Apply a GIS to analyze an environmental problem and propose solution scenarios.
- Know the possibilities of publishing the information generated in public domain environments on the Web.
Methodology
The topics to be taught have the characteristic of being methodologically sequential and linked together in order to advance jointly among the participants, their deepening in the theoretical concepts and the practical application with case studies.
The workshop will combine pedagogical spaces and resources (thematic readings, forums, among others) with synchronous sessions and autonomous learning activities
