Description


It is a training program that trains people in the art of accompaniment and preparation for death, as well as to support and contain people in a state of mourning. The main lines of intervention of this program are based on humanistic psychology, palliative care and spiritual traditions.

Objectives and methodology


  • Train course participants in the art of accompaniment in the good dying and mourning from a humanistic and spiritual methodology.
  • Provide elements and resources to course participants for personal and relational management with dying and grieving people.
  • Generate a humanistic training space that contributes to the personal growth of the participants in existential issues such as the meaning of life, death, suffering and disease.

METHODOLOGY

The classes will take place every fortnight in zoom meetings for 2 hours and 30 minutes.

There will be a monthly class of integration of knowledge and reinforcement of learning and 2 additional ones at the end of evaluation and reinforcement.

Videos and bibliographic material of the topics will be uploaded in the virtual classroom.

It will work with forums, chats, essays and individual and group works.

ZOOM ENCOUNTERS

12 zoom meetings of 2 hours and 30 minutes that correspond to the development of classes with different speakers. Total 30 hours

8 2-hour zoom meetings that correspond to the evaluation and integration of knowledge. Total 16 hours

Individual and group work by virtual classroom. Total 54 hours.

Contents


1. The wheel of life and death

    Life as a circle: without beginning and without end. Perspectives and understanding of impermanence, the meaning of life and death, the nature of the mind.

2. The process of dying and grief.

    Stages in the phases of dying and grief: physical, psychological and spiritual aspects. Sense of suffering, pain, sadness, consolation.

3. The good dying

    Dying a great task, dying conscious, taking care of the body and the psyche. The family of the terminal patient.

  1. Accompaniment and psychological resources

    Elements and principles of therapeutic accompaniment. Resources and intervention tools for grief and good dying. Attitude, listening and communication. 

5. Integration of knowledge

    Consolidation of knowledge for a quality and warm intervention in mourning and dying people. Valuation, monitoring and closing elements.

Certificates


A certificate of approval of the Course "Accompaniment to Grief and Good Death" will be issued for 100 hours, with the academic endorsement of the University of Azuay, with the requirements of:

Attend 80% synchronous virtual sessions

 Academic evaluation equal to or greater than 70/100 for each module

- Doctors, nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, health personnel in general, volunteers and private caregivers.

- Anyone who is facing the accompaniment of a loved one.

- Any person interested in the topics and wishes to carry out a personal development process.
