Description
Tourism as well as the territory are characterized by being complex systems and require an approach from different perspectives, to understand the incidence of tourism in certain territories. Tourism planning is one of the priority tools when determining the potential and vocation of a territory, essential elements for the management of sustainable tourism. Tourism planning determines a focus on the responsible management of territorial resources, through the participation of various local actors for decision-making. The expert course in tourism planning for territorial development, seeks to contribute to the strengthening of prospective and tourism management capacities from a multidisciplinary approach and with local identity, providing the student with innovative tools that allow them to apply the basic foundations of planning tour.

Overall objective.
Strengthen the theoretical and technical capacities for planning sustainable tourism through a strategic and systemic approach to analysis of the territory, which allows the student to know and exercise new approaches, techniques and instruments applied to make tourism a strategic means of sustainable development in Ecuador.
Specific objectives.
- Identify the main tourist planning methodologies and their applicability in the territory.
- Apply geographic information tools (TICS) to the territory, through experiences in the tourism field.
- Apply knowledge and methodological guidelines on the articulation of territorial actors and resources with the various development agendas applied to the tourism field.
- Formulate proposals from an innovative approach for the management of tourism products that respond to a reality
Course methodology
The modules will be taught applying the same modality in each of them and with a similar time load, the phases of the development process of each module of the course are detailed below:
- Initial. They will start with the sending of a material to the participants for reading and knowledge of the subject matter covered by the module, which will conclude with a reading control through the virtual classroom of the University of Azuay.
- Forums. With the knowledge of the subject, the calendars and dates for the individual and / or collective virtual forums will be established.
- In person. In which it will seek to integrate various learning methodologies that promote the creation of a dynamic and interactive environment for the creation of capacities in students.
- Individual and collective autonomous work applying the knowledge and experiences acquired, to a case study, to date taught.

Certificates
A certificate of approval of the Expert in Tourism Planning for Territorial Development course will be issued, with the academic endorsement of the University of Azuay, with the requirement of passing 80% attendance and 70% evaluation of each module.
