Description


The course: PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM / LEAN MANUFACTURING, based on the Toyota Production System (TPS) model and on Techniques and Tools for Continuous Improvement (Kaizen) of Quality, Productivity and Occupational Safety in the Japanese Industries; It is carried out in a cooperation agreement with The Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS) Japan, in coordination with the Lean Club of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Azuay.

The Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships, (AOTS) based in Tokyo Japan. AOTS was established in 1959 with the support of the Department of International Trade and Industry (currently the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry), recognized as Japan's first international technical cooperation organization, with the purpose of promoting the development of the industrial sector. through training activities in Japan mainly focused on benefiting the training of professionals, managers and presidents of companies in developing countries. 

In Latin America, more than 8500 people trained in AOTS programs in Japan have benefited from the following countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, Mexico and Venezuela. In each of these countries an AOTS alumni society is organized, ensuring its operation and increasing the network of contacts, and its expansion to ensure that the best possible candidates have access to AOTS programs. Today each of these societies is grouped into the Latin American Federation of AOTS Associations (FELAAS). 

The training programs of the management model of Japanese companies and the activities carried out by the AOTS associations of each country that make up FELAAS, have the support and endorsement of AOTS Japan, and the international certification of FELAAS.

The facilitators have certifications from various specialization courses carried out in Japan by AOTS and are directors of FELAAS, guaranteeing their experience for training in the business sector.

Objectives and methodology


  • Learn about the characteristics and techniques used in the Monodzukuri (Manufacturing) or Lean Manufacturing process in Japanese industries for the continuous improvement (Kaizen) of quality and productivity in the work areas (Genba): 5S, Just In Time, Kanban, Jidoka, Poka Yoke, Heijunka, Takt time, Muda (Waste Elimination), Andon, Mieruka, Genchi Genbutsu, Total Productive Maintenance and Visual Control.
  • Communicate the experience and learning of the application of quality tools for continuous improvement (Kaizen) in work areas (Genba), in visits to different Japanese corporations and institutions.
  • Make the participant aware of TPS, Lean Manufacturing or Lean Manufacturing techniques to improve the Quality Management System.
  • Train Facilitators in the Production Management System to improve Quality and Productivity in Organizations.

Methodology:

The course will be theoretical-practical, there will be individual readings, and development of individual and group cases.

Activities in each module: group dynamics, Kaizen practices, case analysis of participating companies, presentations and videos.

Timeline:

Module 1: The culture of quality in organizations, 12 hours

  • Friday, September 20, from 9:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m. and from 14:00 p.m. to 18:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, September 21, from 9:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m.

Module 2: Techniques applied to TPS or Lean Manufacturing in Japanese industries and its recommendation for Latin America, 32 hours.

  • From Monday 23 to Thursday 26 September, from 9:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m. and from 14:00 p.m. to 18:00 p.m.

Module 3: Management by processes for continuous improvement (20 hours)

  • Friday 27th and Saturday 28th of September: from 8:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m. and from 14:00 p.m. to 19:00 p.m.

Certificates


A certificate of approval of the course will be issued: PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM / LEAN MANUFACTURING, with the academic endorsement of the University of Azuay and the Latin American Federation of AOTS Associations (FELAAS). 

Recipients


Directors, managers, supervisors, teaching staff and students of related careers; in general professionals who perform functions and responsibilities in the continuous improvement of quality and productivity in organizations.

Prerequisite:

It is preferred that participants know the basic fundamentals of production systems

Approval requirements:

Global evaluation equal to or greater than 70%.

Minimum attendance of 80% of face-to-face classes.
