About this course

This course has been designed so that attendees obtain the theoretical and practical knowledge to carry out the handling, storage, transport and activation of artisanal fireworks and comply with the regulations established to obtain the respective permits.

During the development of the course, the existing legal and regulatory aspects for the activity, fire prevention, will be addressed, as well as concepts of fire engineering, first aid, and evacuation, reinforced with specific practices.

Train the craftsmen who make fireworks and the people who activate them.

At the end of this course, the participant will have been able to:

  • Obtain theoretical knowledge related to safety in the handling, storage, transportation and activation of artisanal fireworks.
  • Apply the theoretical and practical knowledge to act in a timely manner controlling or minimizing the consequences in the event of an emergency.

Methodology

The course is divided into three parts which will be taken into account for contributions.

  • Individual Works: They will consist of the creative and reflective resolution of questionnaires that will be presented to the participants. Papers must be submitted on the dates indicated.
  • Group work (practical application): It will be the practical application of the theoretical knowledge obtained from the different modules, according to the indications of the tutor.
  • Final Work: The work will be prepared from the beginning to the end of the course with the approval of the trainer.

The instructions for carrying out the work and its support will be given by the tutor during the course.

  • Legal regulations on safety and health (DE 2393 in general).
  • Basic safety concepts (accident, incident, occupational disease, sub-standard acts and conditions, etc.).
  • Types of risks: mechanical, physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic, psychosocial.
  • Safety data sheets for the products used in the preparation of fireworks.
  • Fire risks (TYPES OF FIRE, FIRE TETRAHEDRON), fire transmission methods, extinguishing methods, classes and types of extinguishers, use of extinguishers.
  • Signaling (types, colors used, meaning of each of them, NFPA 704 rhombus).

  • Law of defense against fires, regulation, related legislation (of fireworks).
  • Fire prevention. Safety requirements in the manufacture, transport and storage of pyrotechnic material. NTE INEN 736:2013.
  • Regulation of the fire defense law, regulation, related legislation (Handling, Transport and Storage of Explosives; Fireworks).

  • Basic notions for the preparation of an emergency plan.

  • Vital signs, airway obstruction, CPR, bleeding, shock, bandages, wounds, fractures, skull and spine injuries, burns, poisoning, transport of wounded.

Once the activities and requirements for the development of the course have been fulfilled, the participants will receive two certificates of Approval, based on the provisions of the Regulations of the Department of Continuing Education, that is, that the participant obtains a minimum of 70% in the academic evaluation. and 80% attendance at face-to-face classes.

  • Certificate of training in handling and activation of fireworks, 10 hours.
  • Certificate of training in handling, storage and transport of artisanal fireworks, 10 hours.
